What smells like an exotic vacation and can shrink your waist faster than your favorite Zumba class? You got it: coconut oil. A study of 30 men published in Pharmacology found that just two tablespoons per day reduced waist circumference by an average of 1.1 inches over the course of a month. However, the health benefits of coconut oil are still debated—coconut oil is high in saturated fat. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing; it’s in the form of medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), which aren’t processed in the body the same way long chain triglycerides (LCTs). A study published in International Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorders found that when MCTs replaced LCTs in the diets of overweight women, they were less likely to gain weight.
High fiber diet benefit # 1: The "fill" factor - Because high fiber diet foods like fruits and vegetables supply plenty of bulk to your meals without adding a lot of calories, they keep you feeling full longer and help you lose weight, according to a study at the Human Nutrition Research Center at Tufts University. Researchers concluded that a low fat diet works only if it’s also a high fiber diet - rich in healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grains, all of which fill you up on fewer calories and less fat. In contrast, a low fat diet that is low in fiber and high in sugar, salt and preservatives can lead to bloating and weight gain.

A study found that daydreaming about eating an entire packet of the sweet stuff before indulging may cause you to eat less of it. To come to this finding, researchers asked participants to imagine eating three M&Ms versus 30. Then, they conducted a taste test where participants were able to nosh on the chocolate orbs. The results? Those who imagined eating lots of M&Ms ended up gobbling down the least!

This will stop all this weight loss manipulations mania and will ensure fairness in the system, so that desperate fighters willing to risk their long term health don’t get an edge over the normal guys who want to have a longer healthier life after all these fights are done.

I’m posting a bathing suit picture and it doesn’t matter what my weight is or what size I am. My thighs aren’t the focus of this moment but instead the giant smile on my face is. Do you see it? I was smiling so hard my cheeks hurt on this day. We had just taken a pool class and someone called me a mermaid. And I actually felt like one. THAT is freedom. Doing an activity you love and not even feeling like you’re working out. Walking around freely in a bathing suit and being comfortable with it no matter shape, size or what society tells us is beautiful. That’s what I’ve been looking for my entire life. Somewhere I feel comfortable to own it and something I feel comfortable doing and not feeling pressure to do it. Finding the joy to do it instead. 🌊 Saturday I discovered the pool classes. I have always loved the water but wasn’t sure what to expect in a class but jumped in anyway. Literally into the unknown and the deep end. The minute I felt the warm water surround me I was in love and didn’t want to leave- so I didn’t and took two back to back classes that day. Since then? I’ve taken at least one a day and plan to continue to be in the pool every day if I can. 🌊 The water is soothing, calming and liberating. Our bodies open up in the water and our joints and muscles are free float and stretch and move freely with no impact. I’m weightless in the water- something that isn’t true when I’m on land and I can do all the things I want to do on land and sometimes can’t. Burpees? in the water. Yoga? In the water. Zumba? In the water. Tabata training? In the water. Strength training? In the water. 🌊 I can learn to move and grow and love myself no matter where I’m at in the water. This smile on this day is a different kind of smile than I’ve ever smiled before and I feel differently than I ever have before. And you know what? It’s not about the weight it’s about so much more.
